Press Release

George Adams Gallery is pleased to present Staff Picks: 60 Years of Bay Area Art, a group exhibition showcasing works by Robert Arneson, Craig Calderwood, Roy De Forest, Tony May, Katherine Sherwood, and M. Louise Stanley. The exhibition offers a focused look at six artists who, despite their stylistic differences, share a firmly irreverent perspective that reflects the region's rich artistic history.

Works in the exhibition range in date from Robert Arneson's 1965 ceramic telephone, Call Me Lover, to Katherine Sherwood's You Rang? (2025), a recent addition to her Aggressive Women series that will be the focus of her one-person show in September. Other notable works in the exhibition include Arneson's self-portrait, Ceramic Gag No. 2 (1991), Craig Calderwood's enamel on upholstery fabric Bad Panacea (2023), Roy De Forest's Untitled (Big Red Nose) from 2005, Tony May's construction Additive Color Mixing Device (2000-08), and M. Louise Stanley's canvas Just Another Job (1987).

There will be an opening reception at the gallery on Wednesday, July 16, from 6–8 pm held in conjunction with the ADAA Tribeca Gallery walk. The exhibition will be on view through August 15.
