Congratulations to the Manetti Shrem Museum of Art on the opening of their exhibition, William T. Wiley and the Slant Step: All on the Line.
The exhibition celebrates Wiley’s exploration of philosophical, environmental and psychological questions through art in all media available to him, curated by Dan Nadel in close collaboration with the artist. A particular focus of the exhibition is on the Slant Step, an enigmatic object originally found by Wiley that influenced his conceptual practice and those of other artists, including his former student Bruce Nauman. Works in the exhibition include examples of Wiley’s wide-ranging artistic output from 1962-69 when he was teaching at UC Davis, as well as artworks relating to the Slant Step by both Wiley and Nauman.
William T. Wiley and the Slant Step: All on the Line remains on view at the Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, University of California, Davis, through May 8.
