Robert Arneson is included in the Sheldon Museum of Art’s traveling exhibition Sheldon Statewide.
Sheldon Statewide is an annual exhibition held at various cultural institutions across the state of Nebraska, sharing artworks from Sheldon’s permanent collection with a wider audience. This year’s iteration, titled The Artist as Muse, intensifies traditional notions about portraiture by featuring fourteen portraits for which all parties involved are artists. On view is Arneson’s 1987 lithograph Jackson, from his extensive series of portraits of Jackson Pollock in sculpture, drawings and prints. For this particular work, Arneson dripped enamel paint over the image to emulate Pollock’s own working process.
