Congratulations to Luis Cruz Azaceta on being included in the Ogden Museum of Southern Art's annual juried exhibition, Louisiana Contemporary, which has reopened to the public following New Orleans' recovery from Hurricane Ida.
Initiated in 2012, this exhibition gathers prominent contemporary artists living and working in the state of Louisiana to reflect the vibrant visual arts culture of the state and underscore New Orleans' presence as a rising, international art center. This year's iteration includes 39 artists, selected by Hallie Ringle, Hugh Kaul Curator of Contemporary Art at the Birmingham Museum of Art. On view in the exhibition is Azaceta’s 2021 painting Follow the Light, from his ongoing series of works melding figuration with hard-edge abstraction, which engage with current events.
The Louisiana Contemporary is on view at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, New Orleans, LA through October 10, 2021.
