The traveling retrospective Joan Brown is now on view at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, PA.
The exhibition is the first major survey of Brown in over twenty years, offering a compelling reexamination of the incredible complexity and range of her work in both subject matter and style. Organized by Janet Bishop and Nancy Lim of SFMOMA, the presentation at the Carnegie is curated by Liz Park, Richard Armstrong Curator of Contemporary Art, and Cynthia Stucki, curatorial assistant for contemporary art and photography. Including forty-four objects, both paintings and sculptures that showcase Brown’s artistic prowess, the exhibition reaffirms her legacy as one of the most original artists of her generation.
Joan Brown will be on view at the Carnegie through September 24, 2023. It will then travel to the Orange County Museum of Art in Costa Mesa, CA.
