Congratulations to Enrique Chagoya on the opening of Borderless: Artist's Books By Enrique Chagoya at the Legion of Honor Museum, San Francisco, CA.
This exhibition is the first to focus solely on Chagoya's artist books and codices. For his books, Chagoya uses the format of traditional Mesoamerican texts - working on amate paper and in accordion format, read right to left - while combining "concepts of anthropology with contemporary sociopolitical issues to create a head-spinning and potent remix of history."
Borderless is on view at the Legion of Honor Museum through March 6, 2022.
