During April and May, George Adams Gallery presents a new series of drawings by DIANE EDISON and small bronze portrait busts by JOYCE TREIMAN.
While Joyce Treiman (1922-1991) is primarily known for her figurative paintings and drawings, this exhibition showcases a little-known aspect of her work with a selection of small-scale bronze and modeled clay portraits busts completed in the mid-1970s. Only rarely exhibited, this group of sculptures resembles the many characters found in her paintings and drawings from the same period. Modeled with a surprising confidence and fluidity, most of the sculptures measure no more than 3 x 2 x 2 inches and highlight Treiman's humanistic rendering of the figure in three dimensions.
