In the Drawing Gallery George Adams Gallery will present Images of War: Recent Monotypes by David Fox. Part of an ongoing cycle of work, Fox explores themes of war and human rights violations brought to the public's attention through the extensive media coverage of U.S. soldiers' abuse of Iraqi prisoners and the detainees at Guantanamo Bay. In the legacy of Goya, these black and white images focus attention on the moment of violent contact between perpetrator and victim.
Fox was born in London, England and studied at the Wimbledon School of Art and St. Martin's School of Art. He received his MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. Fox was the first recipient of the Graduate Painting Fellowship awarded by the Hoffberger School of Painting, a division of the graduate program at MICA. Fox lives and works in New York where he has resided for the past 20 years.
