Chester Arnold: New Paintings
January 6 - 31, 1997
Starting on January 6th, the George Adams Gallery will exhibit new paintings by Chester Arnold. This will be the first one-person exhibition in New York for the artist, who was first seen here in the gallery's 1994 summer group show "Around the House."
The exhibition will include four large-scale landscapes along with several studies. Central to each is the sense of something gone wrong: Tailings depicts a catastrophic event in an already desolated landscape, while Worlds Apart shows a neighborhood split in two and literally on the edge, and, in Exodus, a close-up of a tree trunk at ground level reveals an army of ants - moving out.
