New Drawings

Nov 15 - Dec 31, 1985

Starting November 15, the Frumkin Gallery will show a new group of Peter Saul drawings in the Drawing Gallery. These new drawings are acrylic on paper and about 40 by 30 inches. They include such Saul themes as crucified dogs, lonesome cowboys and references to the war of the sexes.

The artist, who currently lives and works in Austin, Texas, is preparing for a major retrospective of his works to tour the USA in 1986-1987. Peter Saul's career, which has spanned the last quarter century, included direct assault on most of the political and social problems of the period, from the Vietnam War to the Reagan administration. A large-scale article in Art in America earlier this year by Robert Storrs described and commented on his development.

The Peter Saul drawing exhibition will run from November 15th through the end of the year. The Frumkin Gallery is open from 10 to 6, Tuesday through Friday and from 11 to 5:30 on Saturdays.
